Q: What is Science Odyssey and who is it for?
A: Science Odyssey is Canada's annual largest celebration of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics, featuring fun and inspiring experiences in museums, research centres, laboratories and classrooms from coast to coast. Every year in May, hundreds of science outreach leaders deliver fun, engaging and inspiring activities to Canadians of all ages.
Powered by NSERC, Science Odyssey demonstrates how discoveries and innovations shape our daily lives and foster a strong science culture in Canada.
Q: How can I become a partner?
A: Partnering is easy. If you already have an event or an outreach activity planned that coincides with Science Odyssey, we simply ask you to submit your event/activity using the online submission form, and your activity will be added to the list of public events on the Science Odyssey website.
Science Odyssey partnership is an excellent opportunity to further engage and attract your target audience to your local events.
No events planned during Science Odyssey? No problem! What about a social media campaign to create visibility for your organization, achievements or activities? Or, simply help us spread the word about Science Odyssey through your own networks and channels.
Q: Why should I take part in Science Odyssey?
A: Science Odyssey offers the opportunity to further engage and attract stakeholders to your organization’s outreach goals and local events, while being a part of a larger, united STEAM celebration with hundreds of partners across the country. In turn, your organization will gain more visibility and will increase participation in your outreach activities.
73% of partners have reported that participating in Science Odyssey has resulted in increased public exposure. Many partners witnessed record increases in participation while forging valuable connections with like-minded science promotion organizations.
Q: Where are the events and how are they promoted?
A: Science Odyssey partners organize events and activities in hundreds of communities from coast to coast. During Science Odyssey visit the event list and use the interactive map to find events and activities happening in your area.
Q: What is the deadline to register my events?
A: There is no deadline to submit your event. However, you should register as early as possible to benefit from additional promotion. If your event falls outside of Science Odyssey, we can still help promote it on our social media channels.
Q: What are the provisions taken to face the challenges posed by COVID-19?
A: The COVID-19 pandemic imposed a new reality, but science organizations have mobilized and adapted their content to continue to offer science promotion activities.
With this Science Odyssey, we encourage our partners to think of new and innovative ways to celebrate STEAM, while respecting local and Government of Canada recommendations with regards to COVID-19.
