The event at Labrador West aims to generate an atmosphere of excitement, curiosity and support for science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) among the general public as well as targeting students at schools in the area. The event will feature over twenty demonstrations and experiments of general interest, several hands-on experiments for visitors to try themselves, mathematical puzzles, and posters on current topics of interest in the community. A Science Chase will encourage challenge-seekers to compete and win prizes. A visit to the Materials and Nanotechnology Research Lab will raise awareness of current topics of research and innovation in the scientific community. And finally, visitors will get an opportunity to create art pieces inspired by science.
The demonstrations and hands-on activities will be of interest to people of all age groups, and provide learning, while having fun at the same time, for the younger students. The local visual arts people and photographers will join in as well to participate in the Theatre Arts section. We are expecting more than 400 students to come in and be involved in the demonstrations and visiting the campus.
